The "New Norm" is one of 'Sustainability'!
Various industry sectors and certain geographies are offering even the persistent pessimists, some long-awaited indicators which indeed confirm that the economic crisis is nearly behind us. Thank Goodness!
Inforum for the Electronics Industry will release its highly anticipated Five-Year forecast, sharing the positive news that even the beleaguered Electronics sector is predicted to have suffered less in 2009 than originally predicted by some analysts and offers insights into how 2010 is shaping up to be a dramatically different year!
Looking through my window to the world - its certainly not a completely sunny day - but the welcomed rays of improvement are shining bright! As we bask in the sunshine, breathing in this fresh air of relief - we must however be careful not to get burned!
As customer orders increase and we seek to satisfy them alongside a recent contraction in spending, capacities, inventories and as cash still sits like the king on the throne - the issues of supply chain risk and sustainability could not be more important.
Our respected colleagues Kevin McCormack and Peter Trkman offer the readers of KNOWledge a reminder of supply base risk, the resulting disruption it can create and its potential impacts to shareholder value in their white paper, Supplier Network Risk Management in Turbulent Environments. The risk of disruptions caused both from factors within supply chains (SC) and from outside environmental forces is one of main concerns to both practitioners and researchers. Many companies have experienced a change in their SC risk profile as a result of changes in their business models.
